Fidelity: what did your trading keep after tax?

Upload your Fidelity export to see wash sales (including across accounts and IRAs), estimated federal and state tax by year, and your after-tax result next to the same dollars in Treasury bills or SPY.

Which file to download

  1. Best for a full picture: your account activity / history download (CSV).
  2. Best for exact cost basis: Closed Positions or realized gain/loss download (CSV).
  3. For the Year-End Check: your positions with cost basis (or type current prices in).

Fidelity uses 'YOU BOUGHT' and 'YOU SOLD' wording and a 'Run Date' column; both are recognized. Menu names change; look for "Export" or "Download" and choose CSV.

Download a sample Fidelity-format file (made-up trades) to try it, or see a full demo report.

More options

Stocks and ETFs only (options and short sales are skipped). Your browser removes every column except dates, symbols, actions, quantities, prices and amounts before upload; account numbers never leave your computer. The file is read in memory and never stored.

Questions

Does Fidelity's 1099-B already include wash sales?

Only wash sales of the identical security inside that one account. Buys in your other accounts, a spouse's account or an IRA are not on it, but the IRS rule still applies.

Is my file stored?

No. Your browser strips everything except trade columns, and the server reads the rest in memory only.

Options?

Not yet. Option and short-sale rows are skipped and counted in the report.
